Celebrating Guru Purnima: A Cultural Development Tradition
Guru Purnima is one of India's most meaningful traditions - a day set aside to express gratitude to teachers and mentors who shape who we become. At our Shahibaug centre, The Treehouse Pre School marks the occasion with simple, heartfelt activities that help even our youngest children understand the value of respect and gratitude. Children greet their teachers with flowers, cards and small gestures of thanks, while stories and songs introduce them to the idea of a guru as anyone who guides and teaches with love. It is a gentle first lesson in a value that stays with them for life: that learning is a relationship built on trust, respect and care between a teacher and a child. Celebrations like this are part of our broader focus on cultural development - helping children connect with Indian traditions and festivals in ways that are joyful, age-appropriate and rooted in real understanding rather than rote ritual.
